Movie AmericaBeast(2022): When the wild bear its fangs, a father’s love is put to the test.
‘Beast’ is a gritty survival thriller set in the African savanna. In just 93 minutes, Idris Elba plays a doctor and father fighting a deadly battle with a huge man-eating lion, alongside his two daughters. The plot is predictable, but the film still entertains. Its biggest strengths are the tight pacing and Idris Elba’s strong performance. The CGI lion and some character choices can be questionable, but the sound design, clearly made for Dolby Cinema, and the immersive long takes are excellent. While critics and audiences are split (Rotten Tomatoes: 69% vs. IMDb: 5.9), the movie offers solid B-movie action fun for those who enjoy that style. -
Movie AmericaThor: The Dark World. A hero who blends the serious with the comical.
The movie Thor: The Dark World is about the adventures of the superhero Thor, but MCU fans do not receive it well. The overall tone of the film is dark, with insufficient characterizations of Thor and Loki. Still, it is the first appearance of the important Infinity Stone and plays a major role in the MCU as a whole. It is worth a watch. -
Movie AmericaThor. The brothers’ story begins here.
I watched it thinking that since it was based on an American comic book, I would have to have some knowledge of the story to understand it. I wanted to know a little about the story since it is based on an American comic book. However, that was not the case, and it was delightful even for first-time viewers. After the staff roll, a cut hints at a sequel, so I am looking forward to the sequel. -
Movie AmericaPrometheus. Exploring Undiscovered Planets.
Alien, released in the 1980s, has become a milestone in science fiction films. Ridley Scott, the director of the first Alien, directed the film, which was more of a philosophical film about where humanity came from than a science fiction horror film.
