Spider-Man was an innovative character typical of American comic books. The art (cartoon animation) differs from Disney's, and the old-fashioned American comic cartoons are well integrated into 3DCG. However, if this is your first time seeing this kind of picture, it may be hard to get used to it.

SPIDER-MAN™: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE | Sony Pictures Entertainment
Spider-Man first appeared in MARVEL COMICS in August 1962. In the 1990s, he was adapted into an animated series. In 2002, a live-action series directed by Sam Raimi, the Amazing Spider-Man series, the MCU version, and numerous Spider-Man movies have been produced. Today, there is probably no one who has not heard of the “Spider-Man” hero.
Spider-Man: Spider-Verse is the first animated Spider-Man movie based on a Marvel Comics comic book. The film is a story about saving the world with Miles, the main character, in a multiverse world where various versions of Spider-Man from old-time cartoon animation (sometimes in black and white, sometimes in 2D) appear.
There are multiple Spider-Mans, but as the story progresses, Myles, the main character and the new Spider-Man in this world struggles and fights his way up to become a true hero. This path is reminiscent of Peter Parker’s, and I found the story of Spider-Man’s successor interesting. If you have played Marvel’s Spider-Man before, you will find it easy to pick up and enjoyable.
Spider-Man: Spider-Verse, a fully CG-animated film produced in 2018 (Japan release in 2019), has won the Best Animated Feature Film at the 91st Academy Awards (2019). It is the first time a film distributed by a company other than Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures has won the award since Rango, which won at the 84th Academy Awards (2012), and the first time Sony Pictures Entertainment has won as a distributor.
Screaming attraction-like video quality
The most distinctive feature of this work is the high-quality CG animation scenes. Unlike the realistic 3DCG animated films of the past, this film retains elements of American comic books, and even though CG is used, it is expressed as if it were hand-drawn animation.
As seen in the preview, the scene of Peter B. Parker and Myles being pulled by a train with their own spider silk attached was awe-inspiring. The image of them dodging cars in traffic on a street in Brooklyn at breakneck speeds was like a theme park attraction. They threw a little joke, even amid such an attraction-like scene, and I couldn’t stop laughing.
For example, Peter B. Parker’s face was dragged along the road, and he crashed face-first into the grave of the dead Peter. The film also combines the speed of the action with the comedic elements, so there are many funny and exhilarating scenes. It is an excellent masterpiece that anyone can enjoy: family, couples, friends, etc.
Any scene can be cut out to create a picture.
This movie was visually appealing, consisting of animations that recreated the comic book world. It is truly a work of art!
From Miles walking through the streets of Brooklyn to Spider-Man and his friends fighting near the space-time continuum device, the frame-by-frame and hand-drawn effects created a unique worldview, and the coloring was like a beautiful painting. I recommend that those interested in art and design, in addition to the visuals of film, see this film.
Attraction of the Multiverse is the most powerful genre of our time.
In recent years, many films have been made on the multiverse theme. The Avengers/Endgame (released in 2019), the second-highest-grossing movie at the global box office, and “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” which won Best Picture at the 95th Academy Awards, are among the best-known examples. And, best of all, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which brings together old and new Spider-Man in live action, is a must.

Experiencing their stories in real-time, I was drawn into the emotional depth of each Spider-Man. The narrative always had the potential to start anew, and this film, with its heartfelt moments, left me with a profound sense of gratitude.
This movie is also one of the works that created the multiverse boom, and it reminded me of the entertainment and grandeur of the multiverse genre.
Some may think the multiverse is challenging to understand, but the concept is simple. Multiverse is a coined word that combines the words “multi” (multiple) and “universe,” and refers to the idea that “various universes exist in parallel. It is an image that similar world lines exist somewhere in the universe, just like the Earth and the universe in which we live.
You are a person reading this, but you may be a “superhero” living in another universe, or you may be a “table” or a “cat. If you were in other universes and gathered in the same space and a superhero suddenly said, “I am you,” you would be bewildered, and there would be an uproar. It is portrayed in movies, not in reality, in a very spectacular piece of entertainment.
Miles’s sense of self and Aaron’s presence.
The scene in which Myles, the film’s main character, paints graffiti in a restricted area of the subway with his uncle Aaron was particularly memorable. The film depicts Miles, who cannot be himself in front of his father, Jefferson Davis, as he creates colorful art in a quiet, dark space. The staging of the performance expresses Miles’ inner conflict and hope for freedom.

In addition, his uncle Aaron is the only person to whom Myles can express his personality, and their relationship is also charming. The scene where Aaron looks at Myles’ graffiti and praises it, saying, “It shows what you want to express,” is a scene that, looking back on it after watching the film, makes one’s heart clench with sadness.
The message was “Anyone Can Wear a Mask.”
Just before the end credits, Myles said, “Anyone can wear a mask,” which I felt was a strong message that gave the audience courage and hope.
When Myles first became Spider-Man, he was also unsure, saying I’m not confident and can’t do it. However, he was determined and went on to become Spider-Man, growing to become a hero of Brooklyn.
His words were like a push to the heroes we admire and hold in our hearts: “You can be a hero, too.
Summary
Spider-Man: Spider-Verse depicts Miles’ struggles and growth and draws you into the movie’s world with its original visuals and stunning action. With its epic multiverse worldview and the message that anyone can be a hero, this movie will resonate with you, and you can enjoy it with family and friends.
