However, Asgard has a somewhat medieval or mythological visual style, which I think made each depiction less compelling. Also, the overall tone of the confrontation scenes with the dark elves is somehow less cheerful, giving the overall impression of darkness. It may be due to the title Dark World, but I thought this was inconsistent with the tension of Thor and the story.

In the movie Thor: The Dark World, the Reality Stone, a key item leading to the climax of the Infinity Saga, first appeared under the name Aether. The Infinity Stone is the only one of the Infinity Stones that does not have a shape as a stone. The story of the Infinity Stones and Thor are strongly connected in the MCU, and the earliest appearance of the Infinity Stones in an MCU film was in the previous movie, The Thor. Thor also has an ether-related vision in Avengers/Age of Ultron, and there is a scene in Avengers/Endgame where Thor returns to this film’s timeline, which serves as a case study in the saga.

And although Thor is based on Norse mythology, he also plays a key role as the link between the universe and Earth. Thor is a pivotal character in the MCU as a whole, as he successfully holds the MCU worlds together as they extend into the cosmos. Thor appears to be a very appealing character when placed alongside the other heroes. On the other hand, he has not succeeded as a stand-alone movie, perhaps because it is challenging to bring out his charm. Considering Thor as a stand-alone film in a series is a significant challenge.
